Freshman engineering major Tom Vincent is trying to do well in his Calculus 2 class, but he gets distracted every time he gets done with a test and finds out that Carsten Peterson did better. It's not that Peterson is better at math than Vincent -- it's that he is 13.

Eccentric prof Jones wins hearts of students

Whether blazing through campus on his three-wheeled scooter, wearing tie-dye, or playing substitute for professors in foreign countries, physics professor Brian Jones is always in his element. While best known for carving up the Lory Student Center Plaza on his trike, Jones not only teaches classes and labs, but also coordinates Little Shop of Physics activities and hosts the television show "Everyday Science" for the Poudre School District.

ATLANTA - Meredith Emerson used her wits and martial arts training when she was attacked in the north Georgia mountains by a drifter who eventually killed and decapitated her, the convicted killer told investigators. Gary Michael Hilton described his four days with Emerson, and how she fought him from the moment he tried to overpower her as she hiked with her dog, Ella, according to the interviews that The Atlanta Journal-Constitution obtained from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Committee finalizes Student Media criteria

The Collegian Advisory Committee made public its proposal criteria last week, a three-page document that includes 17 questions regarding Collegian operations. The committee is charged with reviewing proposals that offer changes to the current operations of the Collegian.
