New parking meters hit bumps, irritate students

Some students parking in the engineering lot say they have been wasting more time in the lot this semester than they have in the past. Installed in early August, four automated parking pay stations replaced the traditional silver coin slot meters that had been there originally.
Who you gonna call … RamRide

RamRide will kick off its fifth year by giving its 50,214th ride tonight. RamRide is a program attempting to help prevent drunk driving. The service runs Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. According to Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD), motor vehicle crashes remain the number one cause of death among youth ages 15-20.

Life got real for one Colorado State University student Wednesday when a snake bit her in the hand during LIFE class. At 2 p.m. a bull snake made its way into Clark A101 -- one of the largest lecture halls on campus -- and caused an uproar in the classroom, where some students hopped on top of their chairs.

Residents and rescue workers were taken by surprise when one of the largest rainstorms in state history caused Spring Creek to overflow, creating a flash flood that engulfed much of the city and the heart of the CSU campus.

If kindness could be measured in dollars and cents, a few hours of service might seem like pocket change to those who sacrificed the semester's first Saturday afternoon as part of CSU's RamServe. But coordinators estimate the 460 student and community volunteers provided about $25,000 in community service over the course of only three hours.
