Rams receive gifts for bowl appearance

For the CSU Rams, Santa Claus is coming five days early this year. But instead of a fat man in a red suit handing out the gifts, it will be the third annual New Mexico Bowl. Today, college football is more than just a game, it's also a business. Part of that is the sponsorship, particularly by companies whose major demographic is 15-25 year olds and thanks to the marketing teams of select companies, players on Football Bowl Subdivision teams who reach the post season receive gift packages that differ by bowl game.

The first NCAA volleyball regional at Moby Arena did not pan out exactly as CSU head coach Tom Hilbert envisioned when the team made the bid to host, but it was nonetheless positive as nearly 3,000 fans filled the seats both Friday and Saturday nights. "I envisioned it with about 3,000 more people and us playing, but this community is just great for volleyball," Hilbert said.
Rams stay cool at the line, beat UNI

The Rams handed Northern Iowa (2-7) their seventh loss of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating the Panthers 55-53 in Moby Arena. The Rams came into Sunday's game with a 2-6 record after losing to Montana last Wednesday night and faced a UNI team that was on a five-game losing streak.

The Stanford Cardinal certainly like Moby Arena. Friday and Saturday nights saw the Cardinal women's volleyball team win two matches to move onto the NCAA Tournament Final Four. As an added bonus, Sunday the men's basketball squad ran away from the CSU Rams in the second half of their game for a 74-63 win.

This Friday and Saturday hundreds of students will celebrate receiving their hard-earned degrees from CSU with commencement ceremonies at Moby Arena and the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom. Donning a cap and gown, it'll be the culmination of four to five, and sometimes six years of Scantron tests, research papers and Power Point presentations.
