Men's and women's basketball ready for turnaround seasons

Men's Basketball A year ago, the CSU men's basketball team started their season with only two familiar names in 7-footers Stuart Creason and Ronnie Aguilar. There were a couple of promising junior college transfers and freshman recruits, but the roster still wasn't full, so first year head coach Tim Miles held open walk-on tryouts where the Rams added three more players, two of which would play on a nightly basis.
Women's basketball falls to Shockers in regular season opener

After winning their first two exhibition games against Adams State and Colorado Christian, the CSU women's basketball team fell to the Wichita State Shockers on the road in overtime Saturday, 76-69. Fatigue and foul trouble plagued the Rams at the end of regulation, which allowed Wichita State to dominate the Rams in overtime.
Water Polo dominates Colo. Cup Tourament in Aurora

The CSU women's water polo team opened their season on a high note over the weekend, running away with the championship in the inaugural Colorado Cup Tournament. The Rams outscored their opponents by a combined 69-6 margin and picked up wins over Colorado College and conference foe Air Force along the way.
Rams XC finishes 7th in regionals

The Rams men's and women's cross country teams both finished in seventh place in the Mountain Region Championship race this weekend at Collindale Golf Course. The finish does not qualify either team for the NCAA championship race on Nov. 24. Though the women's team did not finish high enough to continue their season, redshirt freshman Ellie Rastall showed the team a little success when she was named to the all-region team, the only Ram to do so.

Men's basketball dominates in regular season opener

Last year the Montana Grizzlies drubbed the CSU men's basketball team 75-39. This season the score was equally as lopsided, 85-55, but there was a catch: The score was in the Rams favor. Oh, what a difference a year can make, as it was the Rams dominated the Grizz, never trailing in the season opener.

It's amazing the difference a season can make. A year ago today, the CSU Rams were 2-9 with no hope of a bowl game. Three hundred and sixty five days later, the Rams are 5-6, one win away from bowl eligibility and have a possible road to the post season in their sights.
Rams sweep UNLV on Senior Day

With tears building up and emotions running high on Sunday, the CSU volleyball team bid farewell to three of its most accomplished players on Senior Day at Moby Arena. Mekana Barnes, Ashley Fornstrom and Jaime Strauss played their last regular season match at Moby Arena in a win over the UNLV Rebels.
Rams run away from UNM

It was do-or-die for CSU on Saturday afternoon and they "did" as the Rams (5-6, 3-4 MWC) knocked off New Mexico 20-6 to keep their postseason dreams alive. Senior running back Gartrell Johnson III made his Senior Day one to remember as he ran for more yards than any other player had against the Lobos all season, earning 131 yards and a touchdown.
The Star Report: Farris leads Rams in turnaround season

For four years, Billy Farris watched from the sideline, patiently waiting his turn. After redshirting as a walk-on in 2004, he spent a majority of the next three years on the bench. When he did find the field, he was simply put in to mop up the garbage left behind by the starters.
