Iran's parliament impeaches Ahmadinejad ally

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's parliament impeached a Cabinet minister on Tuesday after he admitted having a fake degree from Oxford University, in a vote widely seen as a defeat for hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The dismissal of Interior Minister Ali Kordan was the first high-profile confrontation between the new parliament and Ahmadinejad.

Larimer County adds emergency alert system

Much like the emergency text alert system set in place by the CSU Emergency Management Team earlier this year, Larimer County has created a program that would notify residents of emergencies, following in the footsteps of their campus counterparts. The Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority spearheaded the venture, allowing residents who register with the county to receive alerts through text messages, along with the traditional notification method of calling landlines.

After voting for Barack Obama on Tuesday, he said he would never feel the same about that house, or his country. In the 20 minutes they spoke, Beastie Boys rappers Adam Horovitz and Adam Yauch made it quite clear why they had stopped by the Lory Student Center plaza on Election Day. "If you know anybody that is undecided, or their friends, or your auntie, or your Nana, please call them wherever they may be and get them out to vote," Horovitz said.

Penley's No. 2 signs separation agreement

Following an announcement last month that CSU President Larry Penley's No. 2, Executive Vice-President John Lincoln, has retired, Lincoln will receive nearly $70,000 in salary and benefits, according to his separation agreement. Lincoln's departure comes at a time when funding shifts under Penley's administration have funneled tens of millions of dollars from the university's general fund -- primarily tuition dollars -- into administration, while funding for academia rises at a significantly slower rate, according to university budget reports and CSU Provost Tony Frank.

A deafening roar accompanied showers of tears and confetti inside the Clubhouse at CB & Potts Restaurant and Brewery Tuesday night as Democratic attendees celebrated President-elect Barack Obama's victory over Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., at Party After the Polls, in what students and election officials agreed was one of the most epic and historical elections in America.

With 91 percent of the projected vote counted, or about 2 million ballots, "No" votes outnumbered "Yes" by about 14,000. Most votes remaining to be counted were in suburban Adams County, where the race was about even, and in Boulder County, which was trending against the measure.
