Tennis team to compete in Air Force Invitational

At 9 a.m. today the Rams tennis team will begin competition in the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs. So far this year the tennis team has performed well, with victories in four finals at the Wyoming Invitational and a win in the blackdraw round (a type of consolation round) in the BYU Invitational.

Mountain West Conference remains tough through first five weeks

Is the Mountain West this season's surprise conference? With an overall record of 26-14, two top 15 teams, including eighth ranked BYU, it is apparent that while the adjective "surprise" still may be up for debate, "darkhorse" was thrown out weeks ago. Joining the ranks of MWC teams having early success this season are CSU and UNLV, who were picked to finish eighth and ninth, respectively, in the conference's preseason poll.

Rams sweep Falcons in intrastate matchup

Playing away from the friendly confines of Moby Arena for the first time since Sept. 10, the Rams defeated Air Force at Clune Arena in three sets (25-11, 25-20, 25-23) for its 29th consecutive win over the Falcons Thursday night. The match gave head coach Tom Hilbert the opportunity to display his team's depth and mix and match with different lineups.

Last season, the CSU Rams Football team went into their week seven matchup with the University of Nevada Las Vegas winless. They came out with an impressive 48-23 victory. While the 2008 season has gotten off to a better start for the Rams, the green and gold are hoping the end result against the Rebels will remain the same.

Another big crowd at Moby, another big win for the CSU volleyball team. The No. 12 Rams defeated the No. 25 Arizona Wildcats Sat. night 3-1 (25-20, 29-31, 25-22, 25-19) in front of 3,252 fans for their 23rd consecutive win at Moby.

Johnson's rushing attack seals victory

For the sixth consecutive season, the CSU football team was able to handle the Rebels of UNLV, as the Rams won another close match at Hughes Stadium Saturday afternoon 41-28 behind the rushing attack of Gartrell Johnson III. With 6:04 left in the fourth quarter, UNLV (3-2, 0-2) took a 28-27 lead over the Rams thanks to the passing attack of Omar Clayton.

This Saturday the Rams cross country teams will be going to Eugene, Ore., to compete against the best cross country team in the nation, the University of Oregon Ducks. Eugene has been called the Running Capital and Track Town USA, and the city held the U.S.

Men's golf headed to California

The No. 28 CSU men's golf team will tee off at 8 a.m. Saturday morning in Palm Desert, Calif., where they will compete in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The Rams will compete against 18 teams this weekend, including Denver, Oregon State, Weber State, Washington State, Utah and tournament host Wyoming.
