Stout defense gives CSU winning record

For the first time in 21 games, the CSU football team has a winning record. Much of the success can be contributed to the Rams defense, which held the Houston Cougars to a season-low 25 points in their 28-25 win Saturday afternoon. It was the first time in school history that CSU (2-1) defeated Houston, and it couldn't have been any more picturesque for junior safety Klint Kubiak, who sealed the Rams' second victory of the season with an interception in the end zone with two seconds left in the game.

Football and volleyball combine for perfect weekend

Soon after Billy Farris kneeled the Rams to victory Saturday, a fan in the student section half-heartedly suggested rushing the field. After all, it was only a few days earlier that a certain team in Boulder had done just so, on national TV, nonetheless. While the win wasn't worth risking arrest -- perhaps only an upset over BYU would be -- but it was worth something.
Tennis finishes strong in the BYU Invitational

When the BYU Invitational ended in Provo, Utah on Saturday, the CSU tennis team stood as one of the top three teams in the tournament. "It was a great tournament," said head coach Jon Messick. "We won seven out of eight of our first matches, and we were real close to BYU for wins in the tournament.

Playing with the likes of BYU and Utah, the CSU volleyball team is in for a fight for the MWC title this season. But with scrambling defense and strong team depth, the No. 15 Rams defeated No. 24 BYU in three sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) Saturday night in Moby Arena for their 21st consecutive home match win.

A freshman and a senior led the way to an impressive top five finish for the women's golf team Saturday at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N. M. The finish was just what head coach Angie Hopkins was looking for out of her squad.

Men's golf team takes fifth in Michigan

The men's golf team had some motivation on their side for the Wolverine Intercollegiate this weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich. After becoming ranked 18th in the Golfweek rankings on Thursday, the Rams backed it up by finishing fifth among 16 other competitors.
