New workshops offer students a 'REAL' experience

The first CSU program to offer students certificates in co-curricular leadership development, Rams Engaging in Active Leadership, began this fall in its first year. Sponsored by the Office of Student Leadership Involvement and Community Engagement, the "REAL experience" offers students an ongoing series of leadership workshops featuring presenters from multiple disciplines and departments across campus.

CSU 'builds bridges' with Poudre schools

CSU and Poudre School District officials corroborated Wednesday at the Lincoln Center to outline plans to emphasize innovative media outlets, which will replace current platforms that many say are inefficient, to teach college and high school students. The "Building Bridges for Excellence" effort, sponsored by CSU's Information Science and Technology Center, will begin in elementary schools and extend through students' college educations.

CSU is in the process of conducting an online survey measuring the commuting habits of students, faculty and staff this month, in hopes of tallying the campus' gas emissions. The findings are set to allow Facilities Management to measure CSU's carbon footprint in accord with university President Larry Penley's plan for the university to be carbon-neutral by the year 2020.

SAN'A, Yemen - A car bomb targeting the U.S. Embassy hit the front gate of the compound in Yemen's capital Wednesday, a U.S. spokesman said. A senior Yemeni security official said six Yemeni guards and four civilians were killed. The Yemeni guards were assigned to sentry duty outside the embassy by the Interior Ministry.

A a caped man free-climbed the Morgan Library wall Thursday afternoon, dropped a giant green banner that said, "Guck the Fuverment" and rappelled down the south side of the building to cheering students and police. The man, who wore an American flag cape and a novelty viking cap, declined comment as CSU police took him into custody around noon.
