Texas prepares for Ike

HOUSTON - Authorities in the Houston area and along the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast ordered hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate Thursday as Hurricane Ike lumbered toward the coast and threatened to grow even stronger. Traffic was building on roadways leading away from low-lying areas in Galveston County, and officials urged residents to finish storm preparations quickly.
Cancer researchers connect with med experts

CSU cancer researchers met with medical professionals from across the Front Range Tuesday to foster a closer relationship with doctors and resident money donors to inject scientific research findings into the medical marketplace. The Translational Research in Oncology seminar focused on the discovery and application of new cancer diagnoses, medicine and treatments, and featured speakers in the oncology field.
Coalition increases voter registration

Registering to vote could be as easy as ordering a cup of coffee on campus. The student-run voter coalition Vote CSU! is looking to open voter registration access at desk counters and convenient locations all over campus. Tuesday, the coalition opened voter registration locations throughout the Lory Student Center to provide students a convenient and hassle-free registration experience at CSU.
Man shot north of CSU campus

A man with a gun was taken into custody early Sunday morning for allegedly shooting another man at the intersection of Grant and Myrtle streets. Two people have beeb arrested. Police responded with assault rifles, chasing the suspect in back yards. Police have blocked of the block in the Old Town residential area.

Penley encourages green progress

Standing on a solar powered stage, President Penley furthered the image of CSU as the "green university," saying that he will have the school running at a carbon neutral status by the year 2020. "… as I have said before - changing the light bulbs on campus is not enough - not for a university," he said to the audience of about 300 students, alumni and faculty members.

Good afternoon and welcome on this September 11th. Seven years ago, this event was also scheduled to take place on September 11th. But as we all know, the forces of history and human tragedy intervened. And so, before I begin my remarks this afternoon, I ask that you join me in remembering the lives lost on that day - and the lives lost in the ensuing war It is an honor today, in my capacity as president, to offer my sixth Fall Address to the Colorado State University community.
Student group uses banner to commemorate 9/11

Seven years ago, a dentist appointment saved Anastasia Stull's father's life. On September 11, 2001, Stull's father was working at the Pentagon in Washington D.C, but left work to take his daughter to that appointment. While he was gone, one of the planes hijacked that day crashed into the building, killing many of his coworkers.
