Democrats sell out on new surviellance law

Americans are going to have to start watching what they say on the telephone. Again. On July 9, the Senate approved an overhaul of the federal government's surveillance powers which will dramatically expand the executive branch's ability to spy on individuals at home and abroad that it suspects have involvement with terrorism.

Our View: Media, get over Invesco

Barack Obama wants to be a rock star. And the media can't stand it. On July 7, the Illinois senator and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee announced his intention to give his acceptance speech at Invesco Field instead of the Pepsi Center, where the rest of the Democratic National Convention's events are to take place.

Separate-but-equal unions are meaningless

I had to wonder what John McCain had to gain from appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show last May. What was he trying to do? Appeal to the trendy 18-35 male/female demographic, a group that tends to hate everything he stands for? And his timing really couldn't have been worse.
