Black female journalists share struggles in industry

Black female journalists addressed the CSU community Thursday, encouraging journalism majors from diverse backgrounds not to give up in the face of arduous difficulties the panel said students are sure to endure. The Black Definition Program at CSU has provided events weekly in celebration of Black History Month in hopes to not only address students but also faculty and the community about successful African-Americans, and more specifically women.
Groups seeks to reduce fire danger in wake of pine beetle destruction

Colorado's mountain pine beetle (MPB) infestation has been a problem that can no longer be avoided, according to a panel of speakers who presented at CSU Thursday. While there is no feasible solution for the infestation, they said, utilizing the dead compost caused by the plague, known as biomass, is a possible solution to the resulting fire danger.
Rams hope for first conference win in more than a year

With the worst record in program history, the CSU women's basketball team heads south Sunday to face Interstate 25 rival Air Force, just north of Colorado Springs. After falling for the 15th consecutive time Wednesday night, the Rams (2-22, 0-11) will be facing a Falcon team that serves as CSU's best chance to grab the elusive conference victory that has been plaguing them for, as of today, one full calendar year.
Students suffer from lack of sleep

Nearly 14 percent of CSU freshmen this year said in a recent American College Health Association survey that in the seven days prior to the survey, they woke up feeling rested one day or less. The numbers decreased slightly from a year ago. In 2006 the number of CSU students who reported waking up rested one day or less was slightly more than 17 percent.
Director presents Student Media to advisory board

Jeff Browne, director of student media, presented the story of Student Media to members of the Collegian advisory committee Thursday night, detailing the organization's present-day operations and history. The advisory committee, composed of 14 members, has been charged with the duty of reviewing proposals that offer changes to the current operations of the Collegian.
