Women's hoops falls short against Wildcats

After 17 points, 13 boards and a show time block, Rams sophomore forward Juanise Cornell's career high day in both categories were not enough for CSU women's basketball team to overcome the Weber State Wildcats Saturday as they fell, 61-50. A very competitive first half for both teams saw six ties as the Rams found a big spark behind Cornell.
Rams track and field sees good start

CSU indoor track and field's Jason Schutz helped Rams start their season successfully Saturday in Laramie, Wyo., as the senior from Chromo set a personal best in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 66 feet, 1.75 inches. The throw placed Schutz second in the Wyoming Open and surpassed the provisional qualifying mark.

Rams overwhelmed by Gopher's defense
The CSU Rams were facing a 32-point deficit in the second half Saturday but they refused to quit, cutting the Minnesota Golden Gophers lead down to 14, before succumbing 91-74 Saturday night in Minneapolis, Minn. It may seem difficult to see a silver-lining in a 17-point loss, but Rams' coach Tim Miles found his team's refusal to give up despite facing a tough atmosphere, and even tougher opponent, promising.

Rams sophomore wide receiver/ kick returner Dion Morton found out about the hiring of new CSU football coach Steve Fairchild the same way many Ram fans did. "I just got it from the bottom line on (ESPN)," Morton said Wednesday. "If you see it on Sports Center, you're pretty sure it's true.
