As part of the Hispanic Heritage month and the Diversity Conferences, the 5th annual night of music, dance, and fashion filled the Lory Student Center Theater on Thursday night. " I like doing this because people can actually see the beauty of all the different cultures and what they have to offer.

The Neptune Mountaineering Horsetooth Hang may not offer as much intense, chair-gripping action as Sylvester Stallone feeds us in "Cliffhanger," but it can still fulfill CSU's adrenaline junkies.

The non-profit climbing festival and trash cleanup will be at Rotary Park from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday.

Cameron Cross, a senior Spanish and international studies major and the main organizer of the Hang, said that it's more than just a day if climbing and bouldering.

"The Hang is a great opportunity for students to go climbing, meet new people and be challenged on classic Horsetooth Reservoir climbs while helping support Colorado's largest rock climbing stewardship project and raising money for a great cause that benefits the entire community," Cross said. "The event is also a super fun, safe and encouraging environment to try climbing for the first time and there are tons of routes even the newest climber can make it to the top of."

Unique festival showcases Colorado bands

Three days, 15 stages, 100 bands, 10 bucks, one ticket. Beginning tonight at the Ogden Theater, the Sky High Music Festival will offer music fans a unique concert experience unheard of in this state featuring 100 bands playing at 15 different venues in Denver, Evergreen, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, all included on one universal ticket.

National legislation proposed to lower textbook cost

In light of skyrocketing textbook costs, Colorado student organizations are following suit in a nation-wide legislative effort to lighten the load textbooks impose on students' wallets. The Associated Students of CSU (ASCSU) and the Associated Students of Colorado (ASC) began a campaign this semester directed at state lawmakers pushing legislation requiring textbook publishers to make textbook information transparent to teachers and students.

A man called in what the CSU Police Department (CSUPD) is calling a threat to the newsroom phone of the Collegian around 2 p.m. Thursday. The man said the newspaper's editorial board was "… in big trouble." He repeated this several times to the reporter who answered the call.

If kindness could be measured in dollars and cents, a few hours of service might seem like pocket change to those who sacrificed the semester's first Saturday afternoon as part of CSU's RamServe. But coordinators estimate the 460 student and community volunteers provided about $25,000 in community service over the course of only three hours.

It's been a decade since violent waters ripped through Fort Collins, buffeting buildings, lifting up cars and claiming the lives of five people. Residents and rescue workers were taken by surprise when one of the largest rainstorms in state history caused Spring Creek to overflow, creating a flash flood that engulfed much of the city and the heart of the CSU campus.
