Dreadlocks make their return on campus

Kat Aden's decision to sport dreadlocks was a religious one.
"God had been challenging me about materialism," the equine science and pre-vet freshman said.
Sophomore Heather Taylor had a friend do her dreadlocks the day she signed out of a four-year military stint.
"In the Army, you're not allowed to have any type of freedom of expression," said Taylor, a global tourism major. "I wanted to show I wasn't the same as everyone else."
Bonnie Sizer, a freshman art and speech communications major, had a different approach to her matted or knotted strands of hair.
Students testify in Senate Education Committee

Two CSU students will testify today in the Colorado Senate Education Committee in support of House Bill 1026, a measure that would make it possible for CSU to require graduate students to have health insurance. HB 1026 would amend the current Colorado statute to read that an institute of higher education cannot require undergraduates, leaving the option open for graduates, to purchase healthcare insurance.
Universities, renewable energy lab agree to cooperate on research

DENVER - The heads of four state and federal research centers signed an agreement Wednesday to pool their resources in hopes of making Colorado a national leader in renewable energy by getting new technologies to the market faster. The agreement sets up a framework known as the "Collaboratory" to share information and funding for solar, wind, hydrogen, biofuels and other renewable energy projects.

CENTENNIAL - Prosecutors said Wednesday they will seek the death penalty against two men accused of killing a witness in a murder case and his fiancee. Sir Mario Owens and Robert Ray face first-degree murder charges in the June 2005 shooting deaths of Javad Marshall-Fields and Vivian Wolfe, both 22.
