States should not ban sales
By Josh Phillips
When the Supreme Court reviews California’s law banning the sale of violent video games to minors, I hope they consider the inherent value of maintaining personal responsibility.

Student government elections are here again, which means it’s time to peruse the platforms and determine which pair of students is the least ridiculous. Cooper and Jennifer have offered to rid campus of those tiring 7 a.m. Apr 6, 2010 | 12:07 am
White House creates fear against the Tea Party
The media is at it again. Unable to find arguments of substance against the Tea Party protesters, it has resorted to labeling them “racists” and “right-wing extremists.” As if we haven’t heard that one before. Despite the media’s inability to document violence or find any arrests made at a Tea Party protest, it continues to suggest that the civil grassroots uprising is comprised of white neo-Nazi racists who carry fully automatic weapons. Fortunately, the majority of the public isn’t buying into this hateful rhetoric. Apr 5, 2010 | 11:52 pm

Will student Board of Governors vote lead to a true representation?
HB 1206 will force Bog to listen
By Josh Phillips
Like many students, I am rooting for the adoption of House Bill 1206, which would give CSU students voting rights on the CSU System Board of Governors.
While only two votes on the BOG may not be enough to make an impact on decisions, at least the student voice can be quantified and put on the record.

Five easy steps to avoid climate change devastation
Al Gore, the prophetic visionary of our times who blessed us with the capability to interact with millions of people around the globe via the Internet, has recently come upon a new venture that requires a sizeable donation from each and every person on the planet. Please note, however, that this venture is incredibly dangerous and likely to cause global tremors, rapidly forming tornadoes and poor private jet performance. Also, please note my claim that Al Gore invented the Internet is merely conjecture, and no indisputable evidence is provided to prove or disprove this statement. Despite any misgivings we may have had in the past about Al Gore, including his ability to count or accept loss like a man, we must now consider the serious implications of ignoring this modern Nostradamus. CSU Gun Ban based on ignorance, faulty logic
The University of Alabama-Huntsville’s campus is a “gun-free zone,” but this certainly did not stop a woman from bringing a weapon and gunning down three of her colleagues Friday. Far be it from me to use the deaths of innocent victims as props in a political agenda. Feb 15, 2010 | 11:36 pm

Political correctness or repression?
No doubt you’ve heard of the raging controversy generated by the “Cowboys vs. Indians” Facebook group created by Ben Margolit, a student here at CSU. If you haven’t heard of it, suffice to say the campus has exploded in a fervent whirlwind of political correctness. The “biggest social networking faux pas,” as the Collegian deemed it, led to a lengthy debate on the Lory Student Center Plaza as well as the Collegian’s Web site. Feb 8, 2010 | 11:17 pm
Libertarianism: a wasted vote or valuable mindset?
Last week, after roughly six years of inner struggling and debate, I made the decision to philosophically categorize myself as a libertarian. As most Americans do after they have chosen a preferred political stance, I began to wonder where I needed to sign up and to whom I should start sending checks. Then I remembered I’m a college student with minimal funds and an aversion to spending them. Feb 2, 2010 | 12:20 am
