CSU faculty member to perform trumpet on campus

Tonight at 7:30, students will have the chance to see the CSU faculty doesn’t just consist of educators, but talented individuals.

CSU faculty member Steve Marx, will perform a trumpet concert at the University Center for the Arts Organ Recital Hall.

The performance will consist of music from Europe including Charles Chaynes, Manuel de Falla and Jacques Casterede. Different musicians throughout the show for intimate solo and chamber pieces will join Marx.

“I am excited to present many of my favorite pieces of music, even some not originally written for trumpet,” said Marx in a news release.

Admission is $7 for CSU students, $1 for ages 2 to 17 and $12 for adults.

Speaker at CSU to talk carbon emissions and cities

Some people might prefer life in the city, but the cars, the people, the buildings all come at a cost –– one that’s not so environmentally friendly.

Today at noon in Rooms 213 – 215 in the Lory Student Center, Paty Romero-Lanko will give a talk on how cities can manage global carbon emissions, reduce vulnerability and enhance sustainability and resilience.

Romero-Lankao, is the leader of the Resillient and Sustainable Cities Project at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

The talk, RIO 20, provides a review of the “carbon and climate relevance of urbanization and some of the interactions between urbanization and global environmental change,” a news release said.

The event is part of the RIO 20 Speaker Series and is sponsored by the School of Global Environmental Sustainability and the Environmental Governance Working Group.

Getting to know CSU Football Coach Jim McElwain

If you want to know who the guy is in charge of the future of your CSU Rams Football team, today is your chance.

At 5 p.m. at the Indoor Practice Facility, Football Coach Jim McElwain will have a question-and-answer session with CSU students.

The event is only for CSU students with a valid ID. The first 150 students in the door will get a voucher for free food from Famous Dave’s. Doors open at 4:45 p.m.
