CSU assistant football coach arrested
Fort Collins police arrested CSU assistant football coach Robert Todd Stroud last week on suspicion of theft following a bounced check exceeding $4,000, according to Stroud’s bank.
The arrest took place in CSU’s McGraw Athletics Center last Thursday afternoon. The Fort Collins Police Services arrest affidavit stated that Stroud wrote the check from one of his accounts to a different account without having sufficient funds in either to cover the check.
The police affidavit also said the check was not the first or only, but one of “many” returned due to insufficient funds.
Stroud appeared in court Tuesday for advisement.
CSU spokesman Zak Gilbert said the checks were written stemming from “very personal and private matters.” He could not go into detail about Stroud’s reasons.
“We’re taking this very seriously, and we continue to monitor the situation,” Gilbert said.
Stroud finished his first season with the Rams as the tight ends coach after spending three years at Florida State as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. His arrest came just days after being named defensive line coach.

I hope he wasn’t gambling on CSU football games.
Fire him now. If this is a player, he is gone or at least suspended. Come on Fairchild, show some cahones and get rid of this clown immediately!
Having a coach who is writing bad checks, opening a checking account with the name CSU Football Camp LLC, using the CSU name without permission is just inexcusable!!! And, please, committing crimes because for “very personal and private matters” ? Is this CSU trying to backpedal or what?!!! I have very personal and private matters going on in my life, but I sure as heck wouldn’t commit crimes because of them! GET RID OF STROUD! And maybe get rid of Fairchild if he knew about this checking account beforehand!
