Students leave pets behind when leases, semester end
Abstract:
As classes end and leases expire, dogs and cats in Fort Collins are taking a backseat to many college students' vacation and summer job plans leaving domestic pets abandoned with little or no care on the streets and in vacant rentals.
Local animal rescue organizations are left with the burden of caring for and finding homes for these forgotten pets, which is especially difficult for no-kill, small capacity rescues, such as the Fort Collins Cat Rescue and Animal House Rescue & Grooming....

I think that adopting an animal when you don't know where you are going to be living from one year to the next is completely wrong. I volunteer for the Colorado Humane Society and I think people would think twice and be more responsible if they could see these abandoned animals in cages all day. Also how in good conscience could you move and leave your animals? At least bring them to a shelter where they won't starve to death or get hit by a car. Just a little responsibility would go a long way to helping the overpopulation, and homelessness of animals in this country. I think it says a lot about a society the way we treat the elderly, children & animals. It seems we are not treating helpless animals the way they should be treated.

I think every single person who leaves a pet behind belongs in jail. If i knew who rented a place and who's pet it was I would make sure they were turned in and jailed.
I know some of you know the people that have doing this. How about being a human being and turning them in.
DO THE RIGHT THING.
