The world can hardly be expected to sympathize with a people such as the Palestinians, who strap explosives to their own teenagers and send them across the border to blow themselves up, along with whatever Israelis are in the vicinity.

Particularly when the families of these teenagers receive $25,000 apiece for their "sacrifice".

Interesting, too, that Hamas always has plenty of funding for rockets to lob at Israeli civilian targets, but a mysterious lack of funding to assist with Palestinian poverty.

Perhaps it wasn't the wisest decision for the Palestinians to plunk themselves down on the border 40 years ago; and just continue to sit there with their hands out expecting the world to take care of them, ever since.

How Al Jazeera manages to present this as a sympathetic scenario is anybodies guess.

It must require a particular mind-set on the part of their readers. Something about an "Intifada", I believe.

It's sad to see ignorant college students subjected to these highly selected "facts." The Palestinians are instigating the violence in Gaza. Rocket attacs have continued unabated for years. Israel IS beseiged. Israel has no need to apologize for having more effective weapons.

If Palestinians want a solution they need to make compromises. Instead they elected Hamas.

The guy is not telling you the whole story. He's simply twisting facts. While Gaza is totally dependent on the fuel supply from Israel, Hamas terrorists from Gaza attack fuel terminal on Gaza-Israeli border and kill two Israeli workers who work on suppling fuel to Gaza! They also shoot at the trucks on Palestinian side trying to get the fuel supplied from Israel. They confiscate the fuel supplied by Israel to Gaza, and use it for their terrorist activities, while preventing the Gaza population from receiving it. Then Hamas terrorists cry to the international community about evil Israel not providing fuel to Gaza. This is just one example. What he also fails to mention, is that Hamas was elected to be part of Palestinian government, and then it organized a coup in Gaza, taking over the power from the lawful Palestinian government. During this "small civil war", organized by Hamas, a couple hundred Palestinians have been killed. But why mention them if you can't blame Israel for their death?
We, Jews, also call Arabs our cousins, and we want to live in peace with them. But as long as Hamas controls Gasa and bombards Israeli cities with rockets on daily basis, there can be no peace. As long as Palestinian schools teach their children that the Jews are descendants of apes and pigs, there's no hope for peace in the future.

The terrorists and religious zealots are in heaven as they find more and more Liberal college kids to buy their load of crap PR campaign.

To all people that claimed that the Palestinians don't want peace.
The Palestinians demands are very clear. They want a state within the 1967 borders (only 22% of the historical Palestine), which means the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (including East Jerusalem), with no settlements inside the West Bank, and a just solution to the refugee problem. This has been clearly declared in the Arabs peace plan.
On the other side, the Israelies are only offering about half of the West Bank. That half is also cut into pieces, with no give up on any part of East Jerusalem and no control over borders. They only want the Palestinians to have a non-viable state; a state that will never survive except with the support of Israel. The forien minister of Israel said once that the 1967 borders are old and we should not talk about it.

Did you know that there are about 5 million refugees that still live in refugee camps from 1948 till now. When they were kicked out of their villages, they were a million. It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate.

Now those are some very interesting statistics, Mr. Hawley, in fact I'm astonished. I had no idea.

I think you ought to hold onto them and reprint them here again in the fall when the undergraduates come back.
