Abstract:
Officials put CSU on "heightened alert" in response to the deadly shootings at the Virginia Tech campus Monday morning.
The massacre that left at least 33 people dead, including the gunman, and wounded at least 15 was the deadliest shooting in U.S. history, and has shined a spotlight on the safety of college campuses nationwide.
"Of course, this is very concerning to the administration," said Brad Bohlander, a CSU spokesman. "I think there's concern at every level of the university."...

I understand that safety and security in public places like a university is hard to have in place because so many people come onto our campus. I just feel like our university officials are not doing a good job of letting us know "hey we understand you are all concerned, but this is what we have in place". It took until nearly 5:30PM yesterday for them to even issue a statement to students via e-mail and it was from the Vice President...apparently Penley is too good to talk to us now. The statement didn't hardly include any information and was not that helpful. I have the feeling if put into a similar situation, CSU would fail at security too.
