U.S. leaders should reconsider pullout
Abstract:
There's an old Ben Franklin saying about hospitality that goes, "houseguests, like fish, smell after three days." The same could be said about protective U.S. military forces, except in their case, it takes years.
On Monday, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki made a statement insisting that all foreign troops be removed from the country by a yet-to-be-determined date in 2011, according to the Associated Press, and has told reporters the Bush administration has already jumped on board....

Previous poster said "If we had listened to Pelosi, Reed, Murtha, and other Liberals" we would still have violence that would not allow us to leave.
If the government had listened to its own analysts in 2003, the United States would have never gone in the first place! Sure the surge worked, but the whole enterprise was a waste of money.

Well we can agree to disagree about going to war , And I am glad to see you say the surge worked.
And thanks for the opposing view Robert. I may not agree with you but I respect those who are willing to speak up and give a different view.
Now I am not going got say what I have changed , but believe it or not a couple things CSU students have written have changed my mind on various issues.
Have a great year man and look forward to having future dialogue with you.
Vote and vote often , just kidding man.
Rams Rule!

If we had listened to Pelosi , Reed , Murtha and other Liberals we would still have violence that would not allow us to leave.
Also Maliki has said this before and upon reflection rescinded it.
You forgot an important part of the story also. It is getting to be election time in Iraq and Maliki is playing to nationalism.
Of course when it is safe for Iraq to take care of their own security they want us out.
Hell we want out a lot more then they want us out.
But leaving prematurely or on a rigid timeline is a concept that a grade school kid could understand.
Example: If you set June of 2011 as the date we will be out. Then if I am Al Queda or any terrorists I simply stop fighting until that date.
Then when the Americans with their superior weapons and forces leave I have a greater chance to defeat the new Iraqi security forces , take over , and set up a terrorist run caliphate with potential for launching attacks.
If I was Iran I would get my Nukes and then launch them from Iraq if this took place. That way they don't get blamed.
So first of all if we leave thank McCain for being a man of integrity , honor and vision , and blame the democrats and those who called the man that may well have started the defeat of terror globally Petraeus , Betrayus.
The left did everything within their power to sabotage the war effort.
But the right and McCain and those who backed the surge are the only reason we can even contemplate leaving.
Next time Collegian be more thorough as to Malikis motivation for making that statement. How about including in the article that Maliki and his government have made similar statements that they have rescinded.
If you had included that it might not be so clear as to if and when we should leave.
Thus you conclusion is flawed because you left out pertinent information before reaching that conclusion.
We all know what happens when you reach conclusions on faulty data.
