ASCSU to challenge Collegian buy-out

Abstract:
Student government drafted legislation Tuesday afternoon against a private discussion between CSU administration and the Fort Collins Coloradoan to broker a possible "strategic partnership" between the city's daily newspaper and the Collegian.

They later held a special meeting to formulate a plan to stop the deal....

Student Government is just as responsible as McSwane is for this fiasco.

Didn't the students admonish McSwane for cursing in the paper. That is factual evidence in writing. Then after his admonishment McSwane and his colleagues have cursed in quite a few articles and the student government did absolutely nothing about it.

You have the evidence in writing to call McSwane back in before the board or whoever the governing body was that had the power to admonish him in the first place and present his arrogant violations of the governing bodies admonishment and student rules for journalistic integrity at the paper.

That governing body then has the right and yes the obligation to all who live under their rules on campus to dismiss Mr. David J McSwane for his callous disregard for the rules of CSU , the Collegian and student government.

Is student government can't even enforce it's own lenient rulings then they are a joke ad part of the problem.

Craig, you dipstick, cursing in the paper isn't the problem. It was just plain stupidity that DID NOT encourage intelligent discussion (quite the opposite, in fact), compromised the paper's credibility and damaged its revenue. That was the problem.

"The students" didn't admonish McSwane. The Board of Student Communications did.

The student government doesn't set the laws to which Student Media must adhere.

Craig: Keep on speakin' free. But who the hell are you, why do you keep posting here, and why are you always wrong?

you bring back fond memories calling me a dipstick thanks.

I may have the bodies wrong but who ever admonished McSwane for using profanity then allowed him to violate that rule repeatedly and did nothing about it.

As far as who I am first of all I am an American citizen who served my country in the Army and has earned the right to participate in any open public discussion I feel like. That said I have a Step Daughter that attends CSU and I have visited the campus.

So you will excuse me if I want to be a part of the environment that she is being exposed to.

As far as being wrong that is your opinion and not that of the overwhelming amount of posts that most people have written that agree with my opinions.

Let's see students have condemned McSwane , advertisers have condemned him , alumni have condemned him , parents have condemned him and citizens have condemned him. That has been my position from my very first post.

Let me make this simple for you. The vast majority of both on campus and off campus people agree with me and think you are dead wrong.

So I like my chances against your rather weak argument against me.

But hey thanks for the chuckle with dipstick. I actually like that. A lot better than dropping an F bomb on my head.

Nice having dialogue with you.
