CSU basketball loses senior guard Jesse Carr with torn ACLCSU guard Jesse Carr tore his ACL two weeks ago today during a workout and will miss the 2012-13 season, according a source within the program.

Carr is one of six core seniors for a CSU basketball program entering the season with high expectations after an NCAA Tournament berth last year, the first since 2003 for the Rams.

The 6-foot-2 guard from Nebraska appeared in all 32 games in 2011-12, including five starts and averaged nearly 26 minutes a game as a reserve point guard. He finished last season as the Rams’ leader in assists (86), sixth highest scorer at 7.2 points per game and second in three-point percentage (.431).

This is the second major injury for Carr, who missed the final six games of his freshman year with a groin injury and was redshirted for the 2009-10 season. A medical hardship extension for a sixth year of eligibility may be a possibility for Carr to pursue.

New CSU coach Larry Eustachy is on the road and not available for comment.
