Budding Olympic superstar and Coloradan Missy Franklin won the gold medal in the 200m backstroke. It was her third gold medal and fourth medal of the Olympics overall.
She set a world record in the 200m backstroke, touching the wall at 2:04.06. Anastasia Zueva of Russia finished second more than a second and a half behind at 2:05.92.
Kirsty Coverntry of South Africa previously set the record at the 2009 world championships.
Franklin is finished competing in individual events for the Olympics, but will swim in the 4x100m medley relay Saturday.
