Update: July 17, 2012

CSU football players DeAndre “Dre” Elliot and Cory James, who were involved in a sexual offense case in March of this year, still await trial. The next court date is scheduled for August 13 at 1:30 p.m. and no plea has been made, according to the Larimer County Clerk’s office.

Elliot is charged with three misdemeanor crimes including one count of unlawful sexual contact and two counts of second degree criminal trespass. James faces charges of three counts criminal trespass.

According to a police report, the offense took place on March 31 at 1 a.m. at the ZTA sorority house in Fort Collins. A ZTA member claims a male identified as DeAndre Elliot entered her room wanting to have sex with her.

Another ZTA member claims, according to the report, that Elliot entered the bathroom. He then, “… placed his hand up her skirt and touched her on the buttocks,” the police report stated.

ZTA member Megan Pattee told police that she and a friend were sitting in the family room area around midnight on the night of the incident, after attending a social event with the PKA fraternity. The report states that they were waiting for a pizza to arrive when they noticed a group of males also sitting in the dining area.

According to the report, “She said the males “seemed nice.” Megan said afterward when she was talking to her friends about what had happened, no one could say exactly how the males got into the house, that they had to be let in because all of the doors lock when you leave.”

It was then then she noticed another black male come down from upstairs. ZTA member Sara Crews told police, “they can’t bring people upstairs,” according to the report.

The males were identified as Cory James and DeAndre Elliot. The case was closed in May and is currently awaiting trial.

Thus far, CSU has declined comment as to disciplinary actions made by the university.

 Update June 8, 2012

Rita Davis of the Fort Collins Police Service has confirmed that the case involving two CSU football players accused of a sexual offense against members of Zeta Alpha Tau has been closed as of May.

According to the report, DeAndre Elliot is charged with one count of unlawful sexual contact and two counts of criminal trespassing. CSU football player Cory James has also been charged with three counts of criminal trespassing.

The incident allegedly took place on March 31 at 1 a.m., according to the police report. A ZTA member claims a male identified as DeAndre Elliot entered her room wanting to have sex with her. According to the report, she told the man she was going to call the police and he eventually left.

Another ZTA member claims, according to the report, that Elliot entered the bathroom. He then, “… placed his hand up her skirt and touched her on the buttocks,” the police report stated.

Cory James was accused of entering another bedroom in the ZTA house and making sexual advances, the police report indicates.

Both Elliot and James have denied the accusations, the police report stated. Their court dates have been scheduled for June 13, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.

We don't need a new football field we need a new football team. Its as if we are rewarding them for the bad behavior rather than team success. I don't support the people who give our school a bad name. I would rather support our rival than a team that acts this way (GO BUFFS).

    • Justin Clause

SHUT UP RICHARD!!!! THESE GUYS ARE INNOCENT!!

      • Danielle

The last thing these guys are is innocent.

        • Bob H

As a scholarship players these guys have to walk the line, innocent or not. They will be punished that I’m am sure of.

    • Colin Watkins

Yes Richard, because CU's players have NEVER had any run ins with the law. Just ask Katie Hnida

    • Bob H

We need better comments from people that realize the this stadium is for fans, alum , students and the community not for the football team. Build it! On a side note, Looking to cu as an example of good behavior is way off, my friend, check their history in this department. It's horrible, their players rank one of the highest in the country in bad behavior .

    • Bart James

I don’t believe these allegations at all

  • John

I believe that Richards point was not that we should look to CU as an example of good behavior, but rather that he would prefer to support a team that does not act in this way, even if it is our rival team. The buffs are certainly not a good example of a team with an exemplary record as far as behavior goes, but the Rams should be, and I believe this is the point that was trying to be made. The stadium is for the fans, but I would also decline to support a team that acts in this way. Whether at Hughes or at a new stadium, I'm not going to one game if the team is going to act this way.

    • Bob H

Agree with you on many of your statements, but it's a little too easy to paint all the players with a broad brush. The ones that got in trouble last time got expelled and should have been. They have to live by a higher standard than the average student. These players need to be punished but not all players are like this. Had a couple of guys in the engineering department done this would you claim that you do not support CSU's engineering department? And would you claim they all act this way?

  • Jason Basso

These allegations don't add up,I'm not buying it,these guys are getting charged for trying to hook up with girls basically!!! Just ridiculous stupid charges. GO RAMS!!!

    • camerafollower

You realize how incredibly embarrassing your comment is, right? The charges include sexual assault. Definitely not the same as trying to hook up with girls

    • ellevine

Men like you are the reason rape and sexual assault exist in our culture. These two guys went into a sorority house, entered a sleeping floor and began soliciting sex. That's a far cry from walking into a party and spending the evening chatting up girls and trying to "hook up". I don't know about ZTA, but as an alumna member of a CSU sorority, I can tell you that if men are caught on any sleeping floor in my sorority house, at any time of day, without permission from the house mother and manager, they can be automatically charged as a sex offender. It doesn't matter if they are studying with sisters or if they are someone's dad- no men allowed ever. These guys are already getting off easy by only being under investigation. I hope they face the same punishment as the other three and are expelled.

At least it wasn't assault right? Oh wait it was sexual assault. My bad
